This month marks the official start to summer, and it’s important to update more than just your clothing to fit the season. It’s critical to update your beauty routine as well, to ensure your skin is ready for the warm months ahead. Today, we want to offers tips on preparing your skin for the summer. Find them below and say “hello” to the sun!
EXFOLIATION IS KEY. Sloughing off dead skin cells is extremely important. You may be cleansing, moisturizing, and slathering on the sunscreen—but if you’re not exfoliating, your skin isn’t as healthy as it could be. Gently exfoliate your entire body, including all the hidden areas that are on display when you wear your swimsuit.
STAY HYDRATED. Themost importanten is drink lots of water to pump your body full of fluids. But you also can try turn the shower away from hot and opt instead for a lukewarm shower. Hot water sucks the moisture from your body and leaves it dry and scaly. This will help the skin all over your body look radiant and smooth.
MOISTURIZE YOUR FACE AND YOUR BODY. One of the first mistakes people make when using products on their skin is using a product that doesn’t necessarily fit their skin type. Determine your skin type. You need to know this before before you can choose the right moisturizer.Once you know your skin type, there are a few basic categories into which your skin will likely fall. Most skin will range from ‘oily’ to ‘dry,’ with ‘normal’ between the two. The other two main categories are ‘sensitive’ and ‘mature.’
- More than just your face | Most people use a facial moisturizer once or twice a day, but they often neglect some of the areas they should be moisturizing with that product. Don’t forget about your neck and chest (right down to your cleavage) when you moisturize your face.
- Moisturize before bed | Apply a thick moisturizer at night, and you’ll notice a difference in the morning. Make sure to touch up areas like your feet, knees and elbows. It’s hard to keep these busy parts moisturized throughout the day, so take advantage of this time when you’re not active.
- Keep moisturizer with you | You never know when dry skin is going to hit throughout the day, so keep a small bottle with you to battle dryness whenever it strikes. Make sure to moisturize your hands every time you wash them.
IF YOU HAVE SCARS. Sun exposure can permanently darken preexisting scars, so protect them first and foremost with sunscreen. You need a strong enough concealer to even mask tattoos. Dontt forget to protect them if you have in your body.
Remember: Summer is here! If you are on holidays in Costa Adeje, or you are already near to take the plane to Tenerife, you should prep your skin for the sunniest months and enjoy the sun every day in a safety way.
